march of progress

march of progress

I snapped this a week ago while walking home from work, just as dusk began to settle in deep around me. The sky was a lovely shade of indigo, the hills glowing scarlet with the setting suns rays brushing gently against them. The march of power lines seemed to add depth and a juxtaposition of technology with nature that I found quite striking.

As far as alleys go, this alley (which is between Columbia Stree, Battle, 5th and 6th) is fairly active in use and has a fair number of logistic roles keeping it in operation, but I worry that as the City reworks its downtown core the alleys will lose their palce and gradually be eroded - cut off, built upon and fall into general neglect. I'd like to see some way to fix them up.

This photo really impresses me.

It has such urban grit and realism to it. I wonder where it is. Is it a subway? An alley? Maybe a shopping mall or other place. It's great that adding a little distortion like this has really created a bit of an unknown. I also like the jaunty angle at which it is set. And finally, it makes for a really great first post to this newly rejuvenated blog, of which hopefully I may do something with.
