for London's people!

for London's people!

A terrible tragedy. My best wishes and concern for everyone affected by the tragic events today, and for everyone around the world who suffer from acts of senseless barbarity and violence such as this.

Why does this happen? What drives a man to kill friends and family, beat his wife, kill strangers who have done no wrong? What drives a woman to strap explosives to her chest and walk into a hospital? What drives a child to abduct another child and torture him to death in a railyard? Is it evil? Can we stop it?

We have so many examples of barbarity and extremism in the world today, manifesting in multiple formats and hiding behind manifestations across religions, political ideologies, and preconceived ideas. The capacity for evil is within us all - but among animals, humans have driven the exploration of suffering to levels never before known on this Earth. Are we evil, innately? Perhaps, but we are equally good, and it is the balance that maintains this civilization we have so painfully crafted over thousands of years.

To allow evil to flourish is to abandon ourselves, and make us below an animal in grunting savagery. To engage in barbarism is to reject the tenents of civilization, and abandon the ways of God.

London today reels from a demonstration of insanity, of those who have lost their connection to themselves, and the rest of the human race. It is up to the rest of us to demonstrate our abhorence of these acts and make sure these barbarians, wherever they may be found, have no place in our civilized society.
